Being Financially Organized can Transform your Business

Today I posted on social media a reminder about what can happen when you make a decision to change something in your life.

So much can change when you decide you want it to.

[At that time in my life I didn’t recognize the relationship between the health of my business and the health of my personal finances. Once I did, our business and lives were transformed forever!]

➡️10 years ago ago we were:

🤯 Working so hard but just making enough each month to cover our bills
🤯 Over $80,000 in debt (not including our house)
🤯 Riddled with financial anxiety
🤯 Not saving for retirement

We were living job to job and it was scary.

We knew our photography business was capable of so much more - and so were we!

It took way to too much time for us to realize that we needed to draw the line in the sand and say ‘never again’.

Life is too short to work this hard and have nothing to show for it.

➡️Now here we are:

🏋️‍♂️We decided to focus and be deliberate and built our business to multiple six figures
💰We paid off all of that debt
🚀We used the (former) debt payments to add to our retirement savings
💝Living our dream in Paris

I want this for everyone. I want you to not be financially stressed. Not living job to job. I want you to have a solid business that creates enough money for you to live the life you want.

Everything changed for us when we decided to become financially organized. Our debt was gone, our business sky rocketed, we started saving like crazy and we created the life we wanted.

You can do this!

How Being Financially Organized Can Transform Your Business

Being financially organized is more than just keeping your books neat or paying bills on time—it’s about building a strong foundation for your business to thrive. Here’s how getting your financial ducks in a row can make a world of difference:

1. Know Your Numbers, Know Your Business

When you’re financially organized, you know exactly how much you’re earning, spending, and saving. This clarity helps you make informed decisions about pricing, investments, and scaling your business. Instead of guessing, you’re planning—and that’s a game-changer.

2. Say Goodbye to Money Stress

Scrambling to pay bills or not knowing if you’ll have enough for taxes? No thanks. Financial organization means you’re in control. You’ll know when money is coming in, when it’s going out, and you’ll have a plan for every penny. Less stress, more peace of mind.

3. Charge What You’re Worth

When you understand your costs—materials, time, and overhead—you can confidently price your services or products. Being financially organized helps you see the big picture so you can stop undercharging and start earning what you deserve.

4. Spot Growth Opportunities

Having a clear financial picture shows you where your business is thriving and where it needs work. Maybe a specific service is more profitable, or you’re overspending in one area. Financial organization shines a light on these details, so you can focus on what’s working and cut what’s not.

5. Stay Ahead of Tax Season

Taxes are a lot less scary when you’re organized. Keeping track of income, expenses, and receipts throughout the year means no last-minute panic when tax deadlines roll around. Plus, you’re more likely to catch deductions and save money.

6. Build a Cushion for the Unexpected

Life happens—clients cancel, expenses pop up, or slow seasons hit. When you’re financially organized, you can plan for these moments by building an emergency fund. This safety net helps you weather tough times without panicking.

7. Scale Your Business with Confidence

Thinking about hiring someone or adding a new product? Financial organization helps you see if you can afford it—and how to make it happen. You’ll have the clarity to grow strategically instead of taking unnecessary risks.

8. Feel Empowered, Not Overwhelmed

Money can feel intimidating, but financial organization flips the script. When you have a system, you’ll feel empowered to take charge of your finances, set bigger goals, and create the business (and life) you’ve always dreamed of.

Where to Start

  • Track every dollar coming in and out of your business.

  • Use software or spreadsheets to keep it simple.

  • Set aside time each week to review your finances.

  • Get professional help (like a CPA or bookkeeper) if needed.

Remember, financial organization isn’t about being perfect—it’s about being intentional. With a little effort, you’ll create a solid foundation that allows your business to grow and succeed.
